
LAURA MICHENER
Senior Vice PresidentLaura has substantial experience in underwriting and project management of affordable and supportive housing projects, including managing all aspects of 4% bond and 9% tax credit deals. Laura has considerable familiarity with all aspects of affordable housing development, from project inception through design, finance, build, lease-up and conversion through 8609. She has led the development of projects in New York, Connecticut, Maryland and Pennsylvania.
On each project she manages, Laura fosters excellent relationships with all members of the development team, tenants and other stakeholders. As a result, she has deep connections with finance, design, and construction professionals and has developed a particular skill for community engagement.
Prior to joining Rockabill, Laura was Vice President of Real Estate Development at HELP USA, a New York-based national affordable housing developer and shelter provider. In this role, Laura focused on the development of housing for chronically homeless households, low income families, veterans, and seniors. Coming from a non-profit background, Laura focuses on creating a strategy for each project that meets the goals of the organization and local community, has thoughtful social services and management and is viable to deliver while being best-placed to achieve long-term financial stability.
Laura also previously ran The Margins Project, a community-based homelessness services non-profit in London. Laura holds a Masters of Science in Building and Urban Design from The Bartlett School, University College London and Bachelor of Arts from Fordham University.
